Stephen G. Donaldson's latest volume is a compilation of more than 300 photos of Route 7

Photographer Stephen G. Donaldson, a frequent contributor to Berkshire Living [see “Sap Happy,” p. 68], follows up his previous books, The Berkshires and Barns of the Berkshires, with another stunning volume: Along Route 7: A Journey Through Western New England (Schiffer Publishing, Ltd.). Though a native of Detroit, Donaldson has found his second home here in the Berkshires, parked happily in Great Barrington, Massachusetts—that is, when he’s not roaming up and down Route 7, from Highgate Springs, Vermont, to Norwalk, Connecticut, to chronicle its many stunning sites in various seasons.

Donaldson says he traveled the three-hundred-and-eight-mile journey at least fifteen times in the past two years to capture the more than three hundred photos compiled here. A journey that, whether in the car or sitting at home with this book, is well worth taking.
