The best of the web in September

Pam Kueber of Lenox, Mass., became obsessed with retro-style decorating after decking out herkitchen in vintage aquamarine cabinetry in 2006 [“Swingin’ the Blues Away,” p. 28, Berkshire Living home+garden, 2008], and now she shares that obsession with the world through her blog, Retro Renovation. The site is a baby-boomer decorator’s dream-come-true, offering useful decorating tips, reader stories, inspiring photo galleries and videos of projects, and links to just about every throwback home product one could ever imagine. Kueber provides her expert wisdom of mid-century decorating to readers attempting to follow in her footsteps or to those just wondering which curtains might best complete a 1940s-style kitchen.

Also worth checking out is Kueber’s sister site, Save The Pink Bathrooms, which is based on the notion that “pink bathrooms are a wonderful part of our home-design heritage,” and where one can make a pledge never to destroy a vintage, pink-tiled lavatory. A warning to modern-minded designers: Kueber’s abundant photos and entertaining commentary may tempt you to go retro. [SEPTEMBER 2010]
