Live from NY's 92nd Street Y comes to Barrington Stage
Live From NY’s 92nd Street Y, a series of seven compelling conversations, begins Thursday evening with Michael Lewis and Ira Glass discussing the global financial crisis. Presented by Barrington Stage Company (BSC) and Knesset Israel (KI), both in Pittsfield, Mass., the satellite broadcast programs can be seen at BSC’s Mainstage Theatre located at 30 Union Street. Featuring authors, entertainers, experts, and public figures such as Shirley MacLaine, Anna Quindlen, Fareed Zakaria, and Arianna Huffington, the series will cover topics ranging from Islam to the war in Iraq to cooking, politics, and philosophy. Six of the programs are interactive; audience members will have the opportunity to submit questions via e-mail.

Joseph E. Stiglitz is University Professor at Columbia University in New York and chair of Columbia University 's Committee on Global Thought. In 2001, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics for his analyses of markets with asymmetric information. Stiglitz was a member of the Council of Economic Advisers from 1993 to 1995 and served as its chair from 1995-1997. He then became chief economist and senior vice president of the World Bank from 1997 to 2000. His latest book is Freefall: America , Free Markets, and the Sinking of the World Economy.
