The Ghost Writer
Directed by Roman Polanski
Starring Ewan MacGregor

Review by Seth Rogovoy

One of Roman Polanski’s odder and more entertaining films; for the first half hour or so, it’s hard to tell if this is a comedy or a suspense thriller. In the end, it’s both -- a state-of-the-art, all-too-real paranoid political thriller that makes sharp political points (and more than a few autobiographical ones about the filmmaker) at no expense to the drama, which includes sexual intrigue, plot twists at every turn, and, of course, brilliant moviemaking by one of our greatest living auteurs.

Playing at the Triplex.
