CLICK PICK: Modern Family

The burgeoning downtown arts scene in Pittsfield, Mass., has certainly upped the ante along North Street and its environs; now there’s an online presence to highlight and solidify artists as a community. Launched last year, Pittsfield Contemporary is a virtual arts hub highlighting both larger venues such as the Berkshire Museum, smaller galleries like Ferrin Gallery or the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts, and public projects like Artscape, a sculptural construction on Pittsfield’s First Street Common.

Also included on the clean, modern site are profiles of individual artists from the area, which offer visitors a glimpse into the inner workings and many facets of the city’s lively scene.  An ongoing calendar of art-related events and shows as well as a classified section and a blogroll make the site as practical as it is pretty.
